Removing odours in fresh fish packages
The project EPS-FISH will recycle expanded polystyrene wastes from fresh fish packages finished in tardily December 2022 with good results. This project, developed by Acteco Productos Y Servicios, SL, with the cess of Aimplas, the Plastics Technology Eye, has been funded past CDTI within the phone call EEA Grants.
The project's target has been achieved by obtaining a recycled textile with high quality and without odours from wastes of EPS boxes of fish and other bounding main products. These wastes were not ordinarily recycled in Spain, nor in other European countries, since aroma intensifies more when being pressed and retained to reduce the waste, due to an initial low intensity.
With the projection implementation and by means of applying decontamination technologies and methodologies, the initial odour has been reduced, which allows 1 to obtain an adequate recycled cloth. To obtain this textile, several techniques have been used, with proficient results – this involves pre-treatment of wastes, intensive washing and extrusion with supercritical fluids (sc-CO2).
Packaging South Asia is the cooperating media partner for drupa 2022 which is scheduled to be held from 31 May to 10 June at Dusseldorf, Germany.
